Ry Cooder is the biggest rip off artist in the world. He took a group of nobodies--not "lost legends" as he profiled them in his famous movie and subsequent CDs, and pawned them off as if they where forgotten greats. To aggravate matters, their CDs were full of old songs belonging to real greats. A good analogy would be if I took an old garage band from the 1960's that never recorded an LP, made a movie on them where I claimed that they were lost legends, and had them record a CD with Beatles, Rolling Stones and Doors songs. Of course, since Americans and Europeans aren't that familiar with Cuban music, they swallowed the lie, line, hook and sinker and actually believed that they were listening to forgotten greats.

      *sigh*

you'd think that people would put their placards down for just a moment to wish an old man a bit of peace upon his death...

      ordinary.

Whose being political? I'm just stating the facts. BVSC is a creation of Ry Cooder. They are not "lost legends." Cooder suckered the word with that movie.

I have to agree with Abayomi. No one is wishing anyone to die or taking away thier eternal rest. BVSC is a big frace, bad music, a money making ploy for Cooder, and a propaganda victory for a cruel dictatorship that doesn't allow for dissent.

Taraneh, you have to understand that Cuban exiles in this country hate anything that came out of Cuba after 1959.

It was actually Juan De Marcos who created BVSC and not Ry Cooder. I don't think Juan De Marcos would put together a lack-luster group.
